Peripheral IV Skills Certificate Program

This course is an 5 hour class that provides the RN or LPN with the essential knowledge for practicing infusion therapy in any setting. The course includes insertion of traditional over the needle cannula peripheral aka "short" intravenous catheters. The 2020 AHA Guidelines Science In-Service is an online course designed to provide healthcare providers information on new science and key changes published in the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC.

This interactive, self-paced, multidisciplinary course offers a full overview of resuscitation science changes impacting basic, advanced, and pediatric life support. The course highlights science and guidelines recommendations that are most significant or those that will result in changes in resuscitation practice and protocols. The course includes a course manual and can be scheduled days, evenings or weekends. this course runs approximately 2 hours.

Pet First Aid is a class that is intended for anyone that is interested in caring for their pet during an emergency. 

The class is intended for dog and cat lovers with little to no pet first aid experience. This class is fun and informative for teens and adults with plenty of individual Instructor time. Students will learn in a classroom environment and have the opportunity to practice various hands on skills with CPR mannequins. 

In the CPR portion of the class Casper, our CPR dog mannequin allows you to learn how to do effective chest compressions and rescue breathing and how to locate a pulse on your pet. For the First Aid portion penny lets you practice bandaging and other first aid techniques on her.

 The class is scheduled in sections and has about 5 to 6 hours of instruction including practical skills. Students will also get information to take home to help them prepare for an emergency or a disaster for their dog or cat.

Some of the skills and information that students will learn include: 

  • Personal safety
  • What's normal for your pet.
  • How to restrain a sick or injured animal.
  • How to help a choking dog or cat.
  • How to check a pulse on a dog or cat.
  • Pet CPR
  • How to do a physical assessment (snout to tail)
  • Bandaging
  • Splinting
  • Various common pet illnesses or conditions.
  • What to do in poison emergencies.
  • What to put in a pet first aid kit

Taking a babysitting Class

The course is ideal for adult learners (16+) the American Red Cross Advanced Child Care Training course teaches the knowledge and skills necessary to responsibly care for children and infants in and outside of the home. Learn leadership, child behavior and discipline, professionalism, safety, basic childcare (bottle feeding, holding, etc.), as well as training toward certification in Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED. This blended learning course combines online learning with comprehensive instructor-led training. The onlinelearning session must be successfully completed before participants can attend the in-person session. After successful completion of the online and classroom sessions, learners will receive the following certifications, each valid for 2 years: - Advanced Child Care Training - Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Note: This program is not intended as certification for state licensed child-care providers and does not meet all state requirements for such certification.

Skills sessions will run aprox. 1.5 hrs depending on skills needed.

The role of Training Center Faculty (TCF) is a volunteer role and no reimbursement is issued from the Training Center (TC).

The TCF is a 2 year position and renewal is not automatic. In order to apply for a TCF position, a Training Center Faculty Candidate Application form is completed and submitted to the TC.

The decision to accept/maintain TCF status is a decision made by the Training Center Coordinator (TCC) based on the needs of the Training Center. TCF status is a TC appointment and is an internal position to that TC only. TCF status does not transfer. When a TCF member transfers to another TC, it is as aninstructor, not as a TCF member.This position can be terminated by either party at any time.

 

Qualifications:

  • The candidate must have been an instructor for a minimum of 2 years or has taught a minimum of 8 courses with positive evaluations by students.
  • Abides by TC policies, including consistently and accurately completing course paperwork.
  • Demonstrates expertise in AHA course content

 

Expectations:

  • Serve as quality assurance and educational leadership for the Training Center (TC)
  • Conducts at least 1 instructor course and monitors, updates, and coachesinstructors
  • Accept and be responsible for a minimum of 8instructors within a reasonable geographic area. If the geographic area is remote, the TCC may make an exception to the minimum number of instructors.
  • Serves as an expert in the AHA Science
  • SupportsTC initiatives
